Evigna 1:24 2006 Lincoln Mark LT Pickup

Nothing is more interesting than promotional models, especially those that are nicely done, yet sold in limited supply.  One of these is a rather odd one to do but then again considering the marketing that Lincoln was trying to do to get people to buy this truck I can see why.  This is the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT pickup by Evigna.  It is 1:24 scale, nice quality details, and made by a company that mostly specializes in marketing material for corporations, including Ford.  Only sold to Lincoln dealers in 2006 there were two ways to get this model: either from the Parts department at your Lincoln dealership, or if you bought a real Mark LT you get a replicated model free that is detailed like the truck you purchased and even comes with the VIN number on the baseplate.  From Ebay is where I got this truck from a former owner, not cheap to get at $200 average I got mine at a resonable $110.

Lincoln, like other luxury automakers, were trying to get into the SUV craze in the 1990's with the Navigator and now that pickups were also hot in America they wanted to cash in on that craze as well.  The Cadillac pickup cliche was finally born at the turn of the century as Cadillac took the Escalade SUV, extended it, and borrowed bits from the Chevy Avalanche to create the EXT SUV/pickup hybrid.  Lincoln went a different route by using the new Ford F-150 supercrew and crafting Navigator front and rear with a bed area that has dual dutch doors and a tonneau cover standard.  First shown as a concept in 2000 the Blackwood entered production in 2001; however, the Blackwood was a flop because people wanted a pickup truck that they can work with, not some fancy concept toy (Chevy got that warning as well a few years later with the SSR) so it was cancelled after a few years.  After the updated F-150 appeared in 2004 Lincoln still wanted to cash in on the pickup craze and now the Mark LT arrived in 2006.  To make manners worse it was basically just a rebadged Ford F-150 crew cab, and justifying the cost over the top-level F-150 and the more expensive Mark LT it too was a flop and cancelled after a few years.  On the other hand the Mark LT continued on in Mexico even with the 2009 F-150 update and lasted for another few years.

The truck comes with a special box that has pictures of the real truck (mines did not come with the box).  Inside is an acrylic display case cover that sits on a faux cherry wood base.  If the truck is based on an actual vehicle it would have the VIN number on the base; my truck's VIN is 5LTPW16566FJ17347.  My example is a black Mark LT that is a 2WD truck, yet the model for all is a 4x4 version.  The black paint with lower chrome trim (and they are separate pieces) give the Mark LT a very elegant touch.  Not until later did I realize that the small trim piece on the right front fender ahead of the door was missing, but from a distance in this black paint it's really hard to tell.  The front has detailed headlights with round projector's and round signal lights, the chrome Lincoln waterfall grille, and chrome lower bumper with rectangular foglights.  On the sides you get large exterior mirrors with outer chrome, chrome door handles, flush side windows, running boards, Mark LT badges on the front fenders, and some rather tall chrome 6-spoke wheels with tall tires and detailed disc brakes behind all four wheels.

At the rear the stock F-150 taillights are joined by Navigator red reflectors on the tailgate, separate chrome door handle and Lincoln logo, and a chrome bumper with a Lincoln license plate.  The tailgate opens up to a metal bed area that has chrome bed rail tubes; but since this is a small bed 1:64 scale cars will have to fit in one at a time diagonally in the bed with the tailgate closed.  The hood opens up to reveal the 5.4L SOHC 3-valve per cylinder V8 motor that produces 300 horsepower through a 4-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4x4 system that also has a full-time mode option as well.  As usual the V8 is far back into the engine so the only details visible is the battery, air intake housing, hoses, computer at firewall, and fluid resovoir's, along with the radiator and A/C condensor at the front.  The underside of the hood does get a nice smooth plastic lining cover.

The chassis is a one piece design with excellent details and silver on the exhaust system.  The front has undershield covering to protect the detailed engine and transmission, lower control arms, detailed drivetrain, matching full-size spare tire, and working suspension that also includes the rear leaf springs.  Opening the doors can be a pain, but one open all four doors open to the detailed interior.  I was disappointed that fuzzy floor carpeting was not one of the options.  The front has a thick 4-spoke steering wheel with center Lincoln logo, detailed gauges, central controls, and the sleek F-150 dashboard layout.  The wood trim on the dash and door panels are stickers and look cheap and tacky on this model.  The center console has a detailed armrest with Lincoln logo, cupholders, and the chrome shifter handle.  The seats front and rear have a nice cream leather look to it even though the seats are plastic.  The rear seats have the benefit of lift-up seat cushions, but the cushions do not lift far enough up.  Finally, the headliner is a separate detailed piece with most of the details found up front next to the sunroof.

So is this truck worth the money?  No and yes.  No, because you can find any replica of the 2004-2008 Ford F-150 with the same amount of details for less money, so if you're in that route pass on this truck.  On the other hand this was made for only one year by a company that does not make diecast models, and this was only done for the promotion of a Lincoln product and considering the small number of Mark LT models sold there's not many of these trucks to go around.  Plus who else can make a Lincoln pickup truck?  So far this is the only one and it's those factors, along with the unique VIN models like mine, that gives this Lincoln Mark LT pickup replica a charm of its own.
