Two Lane Desktop

Ok, first off this is not a story based on the upcoming Turbine Time in the 2015 Hot Wheels line, but actually based on two prior cars that were both introduced in 2012 and both featured jet turbines in their engine bay's. Click Here for Photo Gallery One for real, the other fantasy Chrysler has been experimenting with turbine motors since the 1950's, up to the point that it was ready to fit one unit into an upcoming concept car.  The car was called Turbine car and it was introduced on the 1963 Auto Show circuit.  Styling featured aircraft touches like turbine fins around the headlights, the front fender vents, and the rear taillights with turbine exhaust reverse lamps reminiscent of fighter jets.  The interior featured seating for four just like any large sedan of the 1960's, but with turbine fins in the console ends, a driver-oriented gauges with switches, gauges, and shifter just like the type found in airplanes.  Elwood Engel designed the car, wh...

It's not often that I look at a full release set, though there's a few times that I do feature the full set.  Pretty soon that'll be the Greenlight Hitch and Tow (hopefully soon).  For not, it'll be this set of cars from all six of the Fast and the Furious film franchise from Wal-Mart.  Last year was the first release of the eight car series at Wal-Mart, but not every Wal-Mart got them and if they do the selection was small.  This one carries over from last year except for a few changes:  '69 Charger Daytona from the sixth film and '72 Torino from the fourth film replace the gray '70 Chevelle SS from the forth film, as well as the 2009 Nissan GT-R.  Since some are (or will) be profiled soon, here's a quick look at the eight: Click Here for Photo Gallery The Fast and the Furious The first movie in 2001 was the beginning of the series that proved to be exciting for all gearheads alike, even those who don't like those so-called 'ricers...

It was a long time coming for Lamborghini to introduce the smaller version of their famed supercar, so after being owned by VW/Porsche/Audi and the introduction of the Murcielago, the Gallardo was introduced.  Now after a successful 10 year run a new version is introduced, the Huracan, sharing the same styling elements like its big brother the Aventador. Click Here for Photo Gallery A smaller Lamborghini The Gallardo was introduced in 2004 as a smaller alternative to the Murcielago. It shared most of the styling elements with the Murcielago, but in a smaller shell.  The styling, in my opinion, was too blocky and rather cheap looking.  That was resolved in 2008 as the LP560-4, using styling updates also seen on the Murcielago, also based on the million-dollar Reventon.  This included smaller headlights with LED Y-shaped running lights, smaller taillights with tri-y-shaped LED taillights.  The was more impressive to me and has a premium look to it...

If you look at any job sites across the nation in the United States, or as a matter of fact in a few other countries as well, you'll find quite a few Ford Trucks, especially the heavy duty Super Duty line that ranges from the F-350 to the F-550.  These trucks haul and tow big loads with no sweat, and come in various configuration with or without a pickup bed for starters.  Matchbox has presented four different versions of the Super Duty since 1999.  The one not shown is the Matchbox Collectibles version shown in 2000 that was based on a regular cab duallie with rubber tires and opening hood.  It was also based on the 1:18 scale version as well; both had very limited lives as they were only used for one year.  These basic line vehicles show have a more longer lifespan, though.
